Théoden is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. He first appears in The Two Towers and remains an important character in The Return of the King. Théoden was the only son of King Thengel and Morwen of Lossarnach (a region of Gondor). He was the second-born of five children, and the only boy.
