Howard Devoto (born Howard Trafford on March 15, 1952 in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England) is an English rock and roll singer/songwriter who began his career as the frontman for the punk band Buzzcocks, and who then formed several other groups, notably Magazine. He was brought up in Leeds and Warwickshire, and attended Leeds Grammar School. Later, he went to Bolton Polytechnic College, where he met his future bandmates Pete Shelley and Ben Mandelson.
